Happy New Year!

We had a few friends over New Year's Eve to bring in the new year. Tucker filled us in on some excellent info: on New Year's Eve the floats line up for the parade along the streets and you can go see them up close before their debut the next morning. Since this is our first year here in Pasadena we thought that we must take advantage of our location and go! It was so awesome to see the floats and detailing up close. The friendly atmosphere of families lined up for the parade was a perfect setting during our 1 a.m. walk along Orange Grove Blvd.

We played some Wii while we waited for the ball to drop

And then headed to the parade in the morning to see the rest of the floats.

Nothing like a hot dog at 9a.m. :)

Happy New Year 2011!!!

Year 1: Success

Today is our 1 year anniversary and I have to say, this year went pretty seamlessly. It began in a cozy little studio with too many clothing items and not as much space, but after a couple of weeks of adjustments, it was certainly clear that we could make it work. We loved having my family so close to us, but in July we ventured out to Pasadena to start our life here. It has been a crazy and wonderful year with school beginning, adding new members to the family and adapting to all that life brings our way. I cannot image my life any differently from how it is now. I am so in love with my husband who is my best friend and my biggest support. Thanks for such a fantastic year Michael!!

We got to sneak away for the night to Solana Beach and relax...so nice to kick up our feet and enjoy each other's company.

Friends

Some of our favorite times during the holidays are seeing our friends we miss all too much. Christmas Eve morning I met with my high school girls at Dink's and had so much fun catching up. I am still amazed the there are babies already in our lives and on the way!

And the following week we met up with some of our other high school friends at Wood Ranch.

Meet Lola!

For about a month now I have been waiting for my landlord to call me back and give me the YES I had been hoping for when I asked him if we could bypass the detail about "no dogs" in our apt. and get one anyway. I understand it's a big deal for landlords, but come on and CALL ME BACK!! I have been wanting a dog for quite sometime now and Michael was on board too. We started looking at our local shelters and found one little girl that we really loved, but we still hadn't heard back yet, so we didn't pick her up. My hope was really beginning to dwindle when on Christmas morning things became a bit more clear...
(Love the Christmas jammies right?!)
Michael had already talked to our landlord and returned to the shelter about 45 min. after we left to pick Lola up. I did not have a clue! She stayed for 2 weeks with Michael's dad until we reunited. Below is when we first met at the shelter.

We have had such a fun time with her since and I cannot thank Michael enough for being so sneaky and bringing Lola into our little family. She is such a sweet little puppy.
