Playing Catch Up

It has been quite a while since I have updated our blog, so here are a few highlights from the past few months...

NYC at Christmas time, Rockefeller Center. Stayed with great friends Jessie and Martin.

We attended the Inauguration, such a crazy day getting out of the city, but definitely a once in a lifetime moment.

Michael's 30th birthday! Alex and Ashlee came out that week, such fun guests, unfortunately the COLDEST week we had this winter.

Pre-K field trips

Made it down to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, great weekend getaway courtesy of Bridgette , Tony and the Snows, who always are so great to watch Lola for us.

gorgeous day.

Uncle Nels and Aunt Shirin stopped in for a quick visit on their way back to Montreal...LOVE THEM! Such a treat to spend the afternoon visiting.

Spring finally came

Colleen came to visit, always a generous and terrific guest.

Roman and Cannon's first baseball games of the season, still can't believe how old they are.

Grandpa Ed and Carolyn came to DC for a conference and we were able to show them around Eastern Market and had a yummy brunch.

Michael ran the Rock 'n' Roll DC half marathon...on a whim, and did really well.

Seasons

Virginia is beautiful in autumn! It definitely doesn't look like this anymore though.

Across the street from our home.

Hiking Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The leaves hadn't quite turned but it was great to finally get in some hiking.

Hanging out in Charlottesville, VA (home to the University of Virginia) on homecoming Saturday (It goes from zoo to ghost town after the game has started).

Cash Harbor Cannon

Tucker and Tara welcomed their beautiful son Cash Harbor Cannon to the world on October 6, 2012. He is an adorable little guy and has such a peaceful soul. We were fortunate to be able to make a quick visit a few weeks later and meet our new nephew. What a joy he is to the world. We miss you TT&C.

Pittsburgh, PA

We've got some catching up to do...

In early October we visited Bridget and Tony (Michael's aunt and uncle) in Pittsburgh for the weekend. We went to PNC Park to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates play the Cincinnati Reds. Turns out, we picked the right game to go to and witnessed history as Reds pitcher Homer Bailey threw a no-hitter in a 1-0 victory over the Pirates. It was just the 279th time that a no-hitter has been thrown in Major League Baseball history, an era dating back to 1875.

Bass Lake + Yosemite

Once again, Mom planned a magnificent family trip. This year, she and Dad rented a cabin at Bass Lake, right outside of Yosemite. We were lucky enough to have Colleen join us for part of the week too. Mom is the best planner. She has a million different options for activities to fill the week, but is gracious enough to let everyone else choose what we do. We spent the week in a beautiful home, water skiing, kayaking, paddle boating, hiking, fishing, inner tubing, game playing, beach lounging and eating a ton of yummy food. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for planning another amazing family vacation. There are truly no better times than when we are all together as a family. (Photo overload about to happen!)
